LOEWE PAULA’S IBIZA 2021 AND FW21 COLLECTIONS TAKE RESIDENCY AT RYLAND IN SAG HARBOR, NY.
LOEWE’s Paula’s Ibiza is an annual capsule collection capturing a joyful zing of bohemian, Balearic spirit in ready-to-wear, bags and accessories, all suffused with bold color, playful prints and natural textures. This summer, the vibrant 2021 collection is set to take residency at Ryland Life Equipment in the exclusive town of Sag Harbor in Long Island, New York, for two months between 1 July and 31 August, alongside the latest pieces from the Fall Winter 2021 men´s runway collection and women’s pre-collection.
Arriving at the height of summer and hitting the peak of The Hampton’s vibrant social scene, LOEWE Paula’s Ibiza will transform the 25sqm right-hand side of Ryland’s Life Equipment store into a compact yet buoyant Balearic take-over. Specially commissioned animal head sculptures handcrafted by Spanish artisan Javier Sanchez de Medina will be installed in the space, expressing the handcrafted nature of the Paula’s Ibiza collection, joined by artist-embellished terracotta chestnut roasters created as part of this year’s LOEWE Weaves project. Wallpaper featuring Paula’s Ibiza’s playful prints will adorn the walls, while lush, leafy pot plants, esparto grass podiums and ornamental stools in various textural finishes will bring a rustic Mediterranean vibe to the displays showcasing a special selection of RTW, bags and accessories from Paula’s Ibiza 2021, Fall Winter 2021 men´s runway collection and women’s pre-collection.
Sag Harbor is a picturesque 19th century shipping port and beachside town, located between The Hamptons and Montauk, overlapping the cities of Southampton and East Hampton in Long Island. Ryland Life Equipment is a redbrick store in the town’s historic and exclusive Village, built in 1889 to service local craftsmen and provide a base for the clockmaker B.F. Hope.
Paula’s Ibiza 2021 celebrates a free-spirited idea of escapism and sunny Balearic effortlessness though craft-led, uncomplicated pieces of clothing for him and her. Relaxed summertime staples have a mix-and-match vibe, featuring playful, bright and irreverent prints from the archives of the original Paula’s boutique in Ibiza. From kaftan dresses and sweatshirts to drawstring shorts and loose trousers, easy basics are embroidered with crochet or whimsical motifs evoking the phases of the moon and paradise oases. Natural textures come in artisan-crafted, hand-woven basket bags in fruit shapes and ruffles, while sunglasses are bold and clubwear-inspired. The beach is both a place and an attitude.
The LOEWE Fall Winter 2021 men’s runway collection and women’s pre-collection celebrates gathering, folding, tying, wrapping and draping as expressions of the impromptu spirit of collage—a juxtaposition of elements that is both organic and surprising; spontaneous and dreamlike. Creative director Jonathan Anderson pays homage to the work of artist Joe Brainard through prints and jacquards swarming on garments and accessories, but also through collage as a method and a mindset. The layering of volumes, colors and lengths declares a sense of ease and playfulness. Sandals and printed plimsolls ground the ensembles, which are completed with printed totes, nano Balloon bags and the Puzzle bag decorated with Joe Brainard’s pansies.
